What is the Next Steps Helper?

The Next Steps Helper is private, personalized, AI-generated follow-up support you can choose to get after a text conversation with an Empower Work peer counselor.

It gives you one place to come back to later with:

  • a short summary of your conversation

  • key takeaways

  • helpful resources

  • tiny next steps based on what came up in your session

It is designed to help you keep momentum after your conversation and not replace human support.

How do I get it?

If your text conversation is eligible (30+ total back and forth messages), you may receive a text from Empower Work after your session asking if you want the Next Steps Helper.

If you reply YES, we’ll send you a private link. When you open it, we’ll text you a code to enter before you can view your webpage.

Why does the text come from a different phone number?

The Next Steps Helper comes from a different number because it is a separate follow-up flow from the live counseling line.

How long after my conversation will I get the text?

If your conversation is eligible, you should usually receive the opt-in text within about 10–15 minutes after your conversation ends.

Is my information private and secure?

Yes. The Next Steps Helper is designed to be private and secure.

Private: Your conversation and follow-up support are kept private. Only you, your counselors and Empower Work internal staff can see it.

Secure: Your webpage is protected by a code sent to your phone before you can open it.

Will Empower Work counselors be able to see it?

If you open your Next Steps Helper and later return to Empower Work, our team will be able to see your follow-up information, such as resources, next steps, and progress, so they can better support you and pick up where you left off.

The goal is to make return conversations feel more connected and useful.

If I complete my next steps, will a counselor be able to see that?

Yes - if you check off one of your next steps your progress will be visible to our team if you return later, so a counselor can better understand what you’ve already looked at or completed.

Can I still come back to a human counselor?

Yes. Human support is still at the center of Empower Work. The Next Steps Helper is meant to support you around those conversations and not replace it.

If you want to talk with a peer counselor again, you can always come back to the line during Empower Work hours (7am-7pm PT. Mon-Fri).

Is this available for webchat conversations too?

Right now, the Next Steps Helper is only available for eligible text message conversations. It is not yet available for webchat conversations but we hope to include that in the future. 

Can I opt out?

Yes this is completely optional.

If you do not want it, just don’t reply YES to our opt-in text invite. You can also reply STOP to stop receiving messages about it.
