Jaime-Alexis Fowler
Founder & CEO
Jaime-Alexis Fowler is transforming the way we build workplaces so that people thrive. She is the founder and CEO of Empower Work, a national nonprofit on a mission to build healthy, equitable workplaces. Empower Work provides critical resources for vulnerable workers including a first-of-its-kind text line, builds skills through training, and transforms practices through data and storytelling. She's a seasoned leader with a track record of building agile, high-performing, healthy teams. She’s led marketing at $100M NGO Pathfinder International, run operations for a national counseling nonprofit, scaled marketing at Code for America, and launched an investigative newsroom. She launched Empower Work rooted in her own experience and deep community UX research. Her work with Empower Work has been honored in a range of ways including a Jefferson Award, a JFF Innovator to Watch for removing barriers to economic advancement, and a Drum Award for Social Impact along with being featured in NPR, The Wall Street Journal, TechCrunch, Slate, Fast Company, and Forbes. Jaime-Alexis frequently speaks and writes about worker agency, building healthy teams, career pathways and pivots, social entrepreneurship, and the future of work. Most recently, she was a Mimi and Peter E. and Haas Distinguished Visitor in Public Interest Technology at Stanford University. She’s a graduate of Vassar College with an MA from the London School of Economics and was a New Leaders Council Fellow.
