Sharpen your professional skills while supporting people in the workplace.

Peer counselors create a trusted space for people to share their work challenge, talk through options, and if needed, get connected to additional resources. They are working professionals at every stage of their careers––who volunteer their time and skills to help people feel understood, heard, and empowered.

I am passionate about helping people become more effective at work and more skilled in general at maneuvering the world as a human being.
— Eva, operations director, trained life coach, former lawyer

What to expect

As a peer counselor you'll receive robust training that improves your professional skills in active listening, management, and workplace dynamics, and hands-on support from our training staff.

We ask that you commit to a minimum of two hours a week for at least six months. Many peer counselors choose to volunteer even more! Shifts are available Monday-Friday 8:30am-8:00pm PT.

Here's how to get started:

1. Fill out the form below with your email and name.

2. You will immediately receive a link to a short (20 minutes, tops!) application. We'll ask you questions about your interests, experience, and relevant skills. If you don't receive the link please email us at

3. If we're a good fit for your skills and interests we'll schedule a 30-minute phone interview with a member from our training team. Once we agree that the commitment works for you and for us, you’ll go through 20 hours of training––done over video, but taught by real humans––along with supportive, hands-on practice until you're ready to start talking to texters.

We're here to help! If you have any questions about applying, training, or volunteering with Empower Work drop us a line at
